This island of old-growth is the definition of what makes a Coast Range hike so great and so awful all at the same time. You'll find mile-by-mile directions to each hike at the bottom of this story. They’re all a bit difficult to reach - and some are best experienced on a multi-day trip to the coast. Here are five of my favorite Coast Range hikes. It’s a time when every shade of green shimmers brightest - when waterfalls roar loudest - and the forest is speckled with white and purple wildflowers. These are just a few ideas and is by no means exhaustive.Spring is by far the best time to visit. The Bardstown area has some good distillery choices, My Old Kentucky Home and a nice little downtown area once voted the most beautiful small town in America. Louisville is a foodie town and will have good vegan options for you but I personally don’t know about them. The Corvette Museum is about 20-30 minutes south of Mammoth Cave on the way to Nashville if you go that route. There are some nice State Parks including Cumberland Falls and Red River Gorge. Shaker Village in Pleasant Hill is a nice visit. There are plenty of bourbon distilleries to tour in the Lexington, Louisville and Bardstown, KY areas. Lexington area has the thoroughbred horse farms you can tour. It’s extremely popular and the most visited National Park in the country.Ĭheck this recent thread for ideas of what to do in the Louisville area: October will be very busy in that park as the leaves change. You can’t tour on your own and some schools have a Fall Break in October so best to book ahead to avoid disappointment.Ĭheck the Tennessee forums for information on the Smoky Mountain National Park and other locations in that state. October is still a busy time so make your tour reservations in advance. Overall, it was a cool experience and we are glad we went!Īnswer: Kentucky has one National Park, Mammoth Cave National Park and it would be on your route to Nashville. We were able to see it there too and it had slightly less people, although I wouldn’t call it super crowded in either spot. After you’ve seen the Moonbow but it’s still active, try heading down to the lower viewing area. There’s no great place to prop your camera to get the exposure time. If you use a DSLR you will need a tripod. I was able to capture these photos with my iPhone 13 and adjusted the settings later to show the color bands. If your iPhone is an 11 or later, night mode will automatically capture your photos (hold still). The Moonbow looks white to the naked eye. For us, it came and went based on the mist coming off the falls and if there was any cloud coverage. We were able to see the Moonbow best a little before the optimal viewing times. You can stop at the center/right side of the upper falls viewing area to see the falls, the bottom water & the Moonbow best. Your phone flashlight is all you will need for either viewing area, but you could bring a small flashlight. The park pathway to the upper falls is semi-lit (lower viewing not lit). As you walk into the falls area from the parking lot, there are bathrooms that are open on your right. We brought bug spray but didn’t find that the bugs were too bad. We got there about 1.5 hours before and didn’t have trouble getting a parking space. We were told to arrive 1 hour before the optimal viewing time starts. It seems to be a 2 hour window and these are not listed on the website and they change each night of the Moonbow. Before you go, call or find times for optimal viewing hours. Also, look at the weather to see what the cloud coverage looks like. Look up the Moonbow schedule on the website (2 days before full moon, day of full moon, 2 days after full moon). We were not staying at the park so here are some things that may be helpful since there is not a ton of specific info on the website. We went late evening for the Moonbow and it was a really amazing experience.

Alfred Prufrock is a short, moody, repetitious monologue of the thoughts. There’s much more to the poem than this as well: there’s the form itself to think about (fragmentation), the context of the time he was writing in (World War I), the literary allusions (Hamlet!), but I’ll leave it at that since I wanted to keep this review short and sweet. This poem is considered to be one of the first modernist poems. Eliot began writing 'Prufrock' in February 1910, and it was first published in the June 1915 issue of Poetry: A Magazine of Verse 2 at the instigation of Ezra Pound (18851972). The poem is a monologue of a fictional character, Prufrock, who is overly concerned with what people might think about him and filled with. Alfred Prufrock ', commonly known as ' Prufrock ', is the first professionally published poem by American-born British poet T. Alfred Prufrock (Prufork for short) is not a love song at all, but musings of a lonely middle-aged man, filled with self doubt and social paralysis. Or perhaps worse: dying alone, unpublished. First published in 1915, the Love Song of J. Eliot presents Prufrock, to be in a dilemma in making a love proposal but is restricted by. Of course, that leads to never giving yourself a chance to succeed (or in the case of romance, never giving yourself the chance to love). The Love Song is a poem about a man whose conscious mind is revealed. It reminded me of the hesitancy most writers I know have when it comes to writing and putting their stuff out into the world, for fear of rejection. But I also read it as someone wringing their hands over deciding whether to pursue a creative endeavor. I know that the surface level read tells you that it’s written from the perspective of an aging, balding man (the speaker) who is sad that he can’t get up the courage to ask a woman (any woman) out on a date. Alfred Prufrock was first published in Poetry magazine in 1915, thanks in large part to the good offices of another relatively young American poet, Ezra Pound. Alfred Prufrock” (4 stars out of 5, as I indicated in my Goodreads review, haha). No poet in memory has ever had quite so spectacular a debut as the young T. That said, I’m happy to report how much I genuinely liked the T.S. Alfred Prufrock. As a modernist poet, T.S. Eliot is a notoriously difficult poet to understand, and my eyes tend to glaze over when I can’t make much narrative sense out of a text. Alfred Prufrock was created as a poetic form of dramatic monologue and it dealt with the feelings and thoughts of the persona who was probably a middle-aged man, J. I also was skeptical that I’d like it because T.S. I think I was skeptical that I’d like it because I’ve never had a huge interest in poetry (in comparison to my interest in fiction or nonfiction, at least), and the little bit of poetry that I remember liking was usually pre-modern (John Keats, Emily Dickinson), or post-modern (Anna Akhmatova, Peter Meinke). Alfred Prufrock, written in 1910-11, when Eliot was still studying at Harvard. Alfred Prufrock as an Anti-love Poem: Although the title of the poem suggests that its content is enchanting about the ripe memories of. I liked this poem much better than I thought I would. The best-known in it is The Love song of J. The angle of the wrist can be easily adjusted to control the thickness of each slice. > Powerful handles help you hold the microtome very well. The only downside that I can think of is that the wire can be difficult to adjust–it sometimes takes some force before it moves from one position to another. There was little time to contemplate the situation, however, as a new enemy then assaulted the Autobots: Galvatron. When perched on Arcee's shoulder, Daniel was apprehensive about what would happen to his father should Unicron attack. The Planet-Eater!Īfter a brief respite, Arcee and the other Earthbound Autobots received dire news from Spike Witwicky and Bumblebee a monster planet, Unicron, was advancing menacingly towards Cybertron. Arcee afterward stood in solemn silence as Optimus passed on the Matrix of Leadership to Ultra Magnus before expiring on his death bed. The Autobots eventually drove Megatron and his troops away, but at a steep cost: Optimus had been fatally wounded in battle against his nemesis. She and Springer transformed the outpost into its defensive mode, but the Decepticons nonetheless managed to breach its walls. Aspects of Evil!Īrcee was present when the Decepticons launched a major offensive against Autobot City in the year 2005. She helped shield the diplomats from harm until Hot Rod drove the attackers away. Prime's Rib!Īrcee was present at the opening of Autobot City in 2004 when a group of Decepticons led by Shockwave launched an attack, hoping to ruin Autobot-human relations permanently by assassinating several diplomats present. Prime warned Arcee to stay back, lest she get hurt in battle, but the female Autobot, rightfully annoyed at the Autobots' lack of faith in her equal ability, singlehandedly forced the Decepticons into a retreat. Shockwave, Horri-Bull, Fangry and Squeezeplay immediately attacked, looking to crush the "secret weapon" that was promised. However, when Arcee was unveiled at a public ceremony, her pink, skinny and curvaceous form enraged the very audience Prime intended to placate. After trying multiple times to explain that Autobots, being robots, had no gender, Optimus Prime surrendered and ordered the creation of a new Autobot who would meet the humans' demands for sexual equality. We've been over this!Īrcee was constructed by the Autobots in an alternate future 1995 as a goodwill attempt to placate angry feminists who thought that they were "sexist" for having no women in their group. 2.6 Transformers Online (2017 video game).1.24.2 War for Cybertron Trilogy cartoon.1.24.1 War for Cybertron Trilogy marketing material.1.24 War for Cybertron Trilogy continuity.1.18 Prime Wars Trilogy marketing material.1.7 Dreamwave Generation One continuity. Please note: Product will have the 2023 Fun on the Run Shared Exclusive sticker on the box. Both Natural and Lab Grown Diamonds have the same physical and chemical properties and both come with diamond certifications. They have shape, size, color and clarity grades, just like Natural Diamonds. Lab Grown Diamonds are just as real as diamonds that are mined from the earth. Using the popular methods of Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) or High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT), scientists can now create diamonds that optically look like earth-mined diamonds, contain the same chemical and physical attributes and even receive certification through the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and International Gemological Institute (IGI). Bake chops for 14 to 17 minutes or until an instant-read thermometer inserted in chops registers 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Repeat with remaining chops if necessary. Transfer chops to a 15x10x1-inch baking pan. Because the heating element will be super hot (500 degrees!), you'll want a bit of space not to burn the meat or spices during cooking. Broiled Duroc Pork Chops INGREDIENTS 2 Duroc pork chops about 1 thick bone in, rinse & pat dry 1 tbsp olive oil Salt & Pepper to taste. Cook about six minutes or until browned, turning to brown evenly. ADJUSTING YOUR TOP RACKĮvery oven is different, but it's important to notice where the top rack is slotted in your oven. While a simple salt and pepper will do, feel free to rub spices to your pork chop for extra flavor! Just be sure to coat the pork chop with spices in a little oil, so the herbs don't burn. You can use a baking sheet as I did, but you'll want a rack to elevate the pork from the juices if using a glaze. Cook over medium-high heat, turning once, 8-10 minutes or until browned. Because I didn't use a rack, all the juices from cooking washed the glaze off my chops (as shown in my video). Melt butter in 12-inch skillet until sizzling add pork chops. Remove from heat and cover with a tight fitting lid. 1/2 to 1 inch will take 3 - 4 minutes per side. Cook each side until nice and golden brown. Pre-heat olive oil in a large cast iron skillet. Let the chops sit on the counter top for at least 30 minutes. I made broiled pork chops with a thick garlic honey glaze. Grind seasonings on both sides of the pork chops. Ingredients 4 pork chops, about 1 inch thick 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 teaspoon minced garlic Salt and pepper to taste Instructions: 1. Throw them in the oven, turn once, and within minutes dinner is ready! GLAZING? BROIL RACK? Place the chops on the grill, reserving the marinade. There's nothing easier than brushing a small amount of oil on each chop and sprinkling them in salt and pepper. Preheat the barbecue on HIGH, and brush the cooking grids with olive oil. Bake until the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees. |
